Those Naughty Lumps |
Those Naughty Lumps were formed in 1978 and were an integral part of the late 70's Liverpool scene (including Echo and the Bunnymen and Teardrop explodes). In one unbelievable week in 1979 we saw them support Echo and the Bunnymen at Chester Art college, play live at the Bulls Head , Ellesmere Port and headline their own Naughty Party (free Chocolate Eclair for all paying punters) at the Everyman Bistro.
Those Naughty Lumps only released 2 singles, both on Liverpools "Zoo" label: 'Iggy Pop's Jacket' and 'Down at the Zoo'. The former was described at the time by Melody
Maker as "one minute and forty seconds of dumb satire"! The bass player Martin "Armadillo" Cooper ran the Armadillo Tea Rooms opposite the legendary probe records (and round the corner from Erics).
Iggy Pop's Jacket
Iggy Pop's jacket, it was made out of leather
Iggy Pop's jacket, could have worn it forever
Iggy Pop's jacket, see how it shines
Iggy Pop's jacket, yes it makes me feel fine
I feel fine.
Iggy Pop's jacket, it'll make me go far
Iggy Pop's jacket, own a flashy sports car
Will Iggy Pop's jacket make a cult out of me
I wanna know
Iggy Pop's jacket didn't make me look cool
Iggy Pop's jacket, made me look a fool
Iggy Pop's jacket, what I didn't see
Iggy Pop's jacket, it was bigger than me,
Bigger than me
